Party and Praxis
Not champagne socialists but socialist with champagne
Hi all,
We’re all still glowing from our 1 year anniversary bash, and we hope you are too. The music can make you groove, the drinks and food can fill you, and the decorations and lighting can transport you, but you’re only going to have a good time if the party has good people, so we’re immensely grateful to all of you who came out and made this party one for the books (or at least for our newsletter and Instagram)!
Special shoutouts to Nicole Garcia Jajeh of ASÚKAR for feeding us in solidarity with Palestine and Cuba, to DJ and "Sound Ward" columnist Gabriel Lopez for making us move, and tattoo artist Fantasy.Mother for rendering the vibes in the flesh.
And an extra special thank you to Current’s very own party producer and reporter, Rane Stark-Buhl, for making Friday happen– and inviting the East Bay Rats!

With Daniel Lurie and the Zionist linked Civic Joy Fund spending millions trying to astroturf San Francisco’s night life, and haters saying that the Bay Area party scene has turned into nothing more than one long, California-sober extension of Burning Man, we know from last Friday, our few shindigs at Tamarack, and one year of covering grassroots culture that the DSA is not the only party y’all throw down for.

Here are the Current curated events for June 16-22.
And since we’re still looking back on year one in order to build the future (parties) the working class deserves, here’s a retrospective of some of our favorite fête features.
Rane Stark-Buhl- Party Report: East Bay Rats Valentine’s Fight Party
Gabriel Lopez- Sound Ward: NO BIAS Is All Caps, No Capture
Rebecca Gross- In Santa Cruz, an Unlikely Venue Unites Punks and Veterans

And two personal favorites on the sauceless parties of the tech elite and the feckless Democratic Party that would rather make fascism fun™ than make politics work for working people:
Cole Sherlock Hersey- Tech’s Benevolent Boosters Still Confused About How To Not Be Evil
Aaron Anderson- The Democrats’ Biggest Kink is Losing
You are the party,
Bay Area Current
