DAY # STRIKE UPDATES ☻

• Striker Vibe Report: Support is only building, with massive momentum for educators. Hundreds of union members and students came to today's Beach Rally. DSA SF-affiliated Jackie Fielder and Dean Preston, as well as Supervisor Connie Chan, turned out for the demonstration at the War Memorial Opera House this evening. Hundreds of students, teachers, and supporters were in attendance, too.
• Strikers & Supporters Form Massive Human Banner: Despite rainy weather this afternoon, hundreds came through to Ocean Beach to form a human STRIKE sign.
• SFUSD Boss is MIA: Dr. Maria Su, superintendent of SFUSD, refused to meet with SFUSD students, who want her to acquiesce to the workers. Students weren't happy!
• Union Bargaining Team Eats: We're told that union picketers pitched in to buy dinner for their bargaining team as they continue with the negotiations grind. Strikers feel sure that they'll secure the bag.
• Union Calls for Strike Rally: Strikers from across SF will converge tomorrow at Justin Herman Plaza at 12 pm. March to follow!
• Parents Get Behind Strike: A parent and SFUSD graduate spoke to Current. Here's what she told us:

What's your take on Mayor Lurie's position on the strike?

I'm just disappointed by the mayor's response. Is it ok to curse?. I think he talks a lot of shit on social media about what he thinks he's doing. And I think it's bullshit. He really has no jurisdictional role in this. [...] He has nothing to offer.

He has no lived experience of being a public school student, a staff person, or a family member. So we don't need his words. I mean, what he could offer right now is to get his rich friends, himself, or his family to donate to support our educators. And he won't say that. He says he supports the educators. He just wants the strike to end because it's making him look bad.

• SF Mayor Lurie Crashes Out: Lurie has resorted to posting Big Sad Videos on IG. The most-liked comment on his Tuesday evening post is from the intrepid @RealBayAreaMemes, with a simple message: Pay Them. Sadly, the only payment that Lurie has made was a transfer from his inheritance towards his $16+ million Pacific Heights home.
